The MUSEUM OF AMERICAN MUSIC HISTORY/TEXAS MUSIC HALL OF FAME
(MAMH Texas) is a nonprofit educational, culture and heritage, museum development organization specializing in American and Texas music history. Since 1990, MAMH Texas has been Texas’ premiere collaborative of music educators, collectors, libraries, archives, museums and halls of fame, estates, and industry professionals dedicated to establishing a world-class “music-as-culture” history museum. The Western Heritage Historical Society, Hispanic Entertainment Archives, Jazz Heritage Society of Texas, Blues Foundation Affiliates, Texas State Agencies, several distinguished educational institutions and other national and international music preservation entities serve as development partners for the MAMH Texas Project.

Recently, our facility operations affiliate was approved for $10M in federal funding to complete Phase I of the official Texas Music Hall of Fame museum for the State of Texas. Records indicate MAMH Texas affiliates own, have operated or published the marks “Texas Music Hall of Fame” and “Texas Music History” as business and programming entities since the 1960’s. The State of Texas and the MAMH Texas Coordinating Committee has dedicated the new Texas Music Hall of Fame facility to Texas music artists and families. Developed by Texas music families for Texas music families, the Texas Music Hall of Fame program is an official Texas Culture and Heritage Tourism project.

Tammy Huerta Fender, daughter of Freddy Fender and Director of Artist Relations with the MAMH Texas Project, will be working directly with artists and music families to insure that their memorabilia, legacies and history will always remain in Texas. This is the home of Texas Legends where, not only will artist and families be involved in the decision of how the histories, instruments, awards and other memorabilia are presented, but that artist and music family artifacts displayed at the museum will always belong to the artist and families. The current Phase II facility has nearly 50,000sf of exhibit space. The permanent exhibit area is 30,000sf and will be open to the public with Texas music history galleries, a restaurant, gift shop, a music library, performance areas, archival warehouse and historical sites tourist center amenities. Phase III of the Capital Project Plan has more than 200,000sf of museum space with an expanded permanent exhibit area, temporary exhibit space, theater and other amenities. Acclaimed architects Frank Douglas (D│G Studios) and Chris Hudson (Morris Architects) are designing the museum. This will be a place for the entire family, will bring hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars of economic activity to the state; and all Texas artists are automatically a member of the team! The world knows how talented Texas artists are and how prominent Texas culture is. What they’ll soon learn is how much Texans have created, defined, contributed and impacted an American music the entire world reveres. Texas Music History is Texas artists, its music families and culture. With the MAMH Texas Project, we’ll be here for hundreds of years to come.
